Hotel Elephant was established in 2009 as a not for profit company to provide space for arts, culture and enterprise in Southwark. Since then Hotel Elephant has provided over 57,000 square foot of space across 6 'meanwhile' use property in the Elephant and Castle.
In July 2016 Hotel Elephant launched Spare Street – a new street dedicated to creative enterprise in SE17 (Elephant & Castle). A total of 8,750 sqft of workspace, public space and café span five newly refurbished, glazed fronted railway arches.
With space for 80+ individuals we run workspace for creative entrepreneurs, start-ups and graduates. We have flexible membership options including hot desk, dedicated desk and individual spaces for teams of 4 – 6 people. All spaces are fully serviced with high speed internet, shared communal facilities, break out area, members discount in our café plus free events and drinks (on Fridays) for our members!
It’s zone 1 / 2 location means it is centrally located with many transport links to the rest of the city – just 2 mins walk from Elephants & Castle tube, 6 mins by tube from London Bridge and 10 mins by tube from The City.
Spare Street has been named by Hotel Elephant after the Edwardian artist Austin Osman Spare who lived, worked and exhibited in the area from the early 1900’s until his death in 1956.
Hotel Elephant has created the first permanent Creative Enterprise Hub in the Elephant and Castle and Spare Street is the first part of the low line to be established in Southwark.
